AI chatbots can be brilliant revision partners. They can also be a very fast way to avoid thinking. The difference is almost entirely in how you ask.
Ask an AI to “explain refraction” and you’ll get a tidy paragraph you’ll forget in ten minutes. Ask it to quiz you, one question at a time, and hold back the answer until you’ve had a go – and suddenly you’re doing real retrieval practice with a tutor who never gets tired.
Ready-made prompts for every topic
The Revise with AI page has prompts you can copy and paste for every topic. They turn an AI into a patient physics tutor that:
- quizzes you one question at a time
- gives hints instead of answers
- targets the mistakes students really make
- marks your work like an AQA examiner
A few golden rules
- Answer before you read. Write your answer down first, then let the AI respond.
- Ask for hints, not solutions. Struggling a bit is what makes it stick.
- Check against trusted sources. AI can make mistakes, so compare anything surprising with your notes or the topic pages on this site.
- Practise long answers. Getting a six-mark answer marked like an examiner is one of the most useful things an AI can do.
Want real six-mark questions to try it on? The 6-mark questions page is a good place to start.
