Units Game: Every Unit in GCSE Physics

✏️ Paper first! Work out every question on paper before you open the answer. Write down every step – the equation, the numbers with units, the rearranging and the answer with its unit. In the exam, if your final answer is wrong you can still get marks for correct working, but only if the examiner can see it.

Every quantity in GCSE Physics has a unit, and you lose easy marks if you get them wrong. This game tests you on every unit, equation symbol and prefix on the AQA specification.

  • Name the unit: you’re given a quantity, like power, and pick its unit.
  • What does it measure? You’re given a unit, like pascals, and pick the quantity.
  • Equation symbols: work out what letters like ρ, λ and I stand for.
  • Prefixes: tera, giga, mega, kilo, centi, milli, micro and nano.
  • Mixed: a bit of everything.

Choose your course and tier so you only get the units you need. Your best score for each game is saved on your device.

Top tip: Always write the unit with your answer. A correct number with a missing or wrong unit can cost you the mark.
