The Physics Question Bank

40 Reading Comprehension Papers: KS2 SATs and 11+

✏️ Paper first! Work out every question on paper before you open the answer. Write down every step – the equation, the numbers with units, the rearranging and the answer with its unit. In the exam, if your final answer is wrong you can still get marks for correct working, but only if the examiner can see it.

Why paper first?

The SATs and most 11+ tests are sat with a pencil. Writing answers by hand builds the habits that win marks: going back to the text, choosing evidence and explaining it.

Who it’s for

  • Parents: steady practice at home from Year 3, with answers that show you where the evidence is
  • Tutors: ready-made texts at four levels, with every mark explained and the skill each question tests
  • Teachers: printable practice and two SATs-style mock papers for your own class

How to use it

  1. Print single-sided. Each text starts on a new page and its questions start on another, so print them separately and lay them side by side.
  2. Read the whole text first, then answer in pencil, looking back at the text for every answer.
  3. Mark with the answers at the back. Go through them together and record the score on the score sheet.
